Privacy policy

Able Gear collects as little as possible. We do not sell your data, and we keep buyer and seller contact private. This is a plain-language summary, not legal advice.
What we collect
- The details you put in a listing, including the email address you provide. Your email is never shown publicly.
- Messages sent through the contact form are relayed to the seller by email and are not stored on our servers. We keep only a count of contacts, to prevent abuse.
- A one-way hashed version of visitors' IP addresses, used only for rate limiting and spam prevention. We cannot reverse it to identify you.
- Photos you upload. We strip location and camera metadata (including GPS) from every image before publishing it.
How contact works
When a buyer contacts you, we email their message to you with their address set as the reply-to, so you can respond directly. The buyer does not see your email address, and you do not see theirs until you reply. No one's contact details are published on the site.
Cookies and analytics
We use essential cookies to operate the site and protect forms (Cloudflare Turnstile). We also use Google Analytics to understand overall traffic. Analytics data is aggregate and we do not use it to identify you. You can opt out with your browser's privacy settings or a Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Service providers and where your data goes
We rely on a few trusted providers to run the site: Cloudflare (security, spam protection, and content delivery) and Google Analytics (aggregate traffic). These providers may process limited technical data, including IP addresses, on servers outside Canada, including the United States. We do not sell your data.
How long we keep listings
Listings are kept while active and for a short grace period after they expire or are deleted, after which the listing's photos are removed and the email is cleared.
Removing your data
You can edit or delete your listing anytime using the private manage link we emailed you when you posted. Deleting a listing removes its photos and clears the contact email. To access, correct, or delete your information, or for any privacy question, email info@ablecanada.ca.
